William "Bill" Combs was born to Lawrence and Loretta Combs in Oregon County, Missouri, on March 13, 1959, and departed this life on September 19, 2026, at the age of 67.

He is survived by his two sisters, Diana Hoaglan Blair and husband Steve of Collierville, Tennessee, and Deniece Beck of McGehee, Arkansas; his daughter, Alyssa Dahlke, and her husband, Ezekiel Dahlke, of Derby, Kansas; and his two granddaughters, Emmalyn and Addalyn Dahlke of Derby, Kansas. Preceding him in death were his parents, Lawrence and Loretta Combs, and his beloved wife, Mary Alice Combs.

As a teenager, Bill was known as a local legend in Oregon County, where he helped lead Couch R-I High School to four consecutive state basketball championships. He went on to meet the love of his life, Mary Alice Williams, and the couple united in marriage on March 15, 1986. The following year, they welcomed their daughter, Alyssa. Bill worked as a mechanic in his early years and eventually became a propane deliverer before living out his final years as a farmer.

Bill was a hardworking man whose life was grounded in faith, family, and the land he called home. He spent much of his time outdoors tending cattle, mending fences, and caring for the farm alongside his partner in crime, Mary. Together, they built a life marked by devotion, simple pleasures, and a deep appreciation for the home and family they created.

Bill was known throughout his community for his generous heart and willingness to lend a helping hand. He did not need many words to express how he felt; his love and happiness were evident in a smile, a look, or the quiet joy he found in spending time with those he cared about. Above all, Bill loved his family, especially his two "grandbabies," Emma and Addie. He took great pride in them, and they brought him immeasurable happiness and joy.

Bill had a kind soul, both inside and out, and will always be remembered for his bright smile, warm heart, and perfectly timed sense of humor. His family and friends will miss him dearly, but they can find comfort in knowing that their loss is Heaven's gain and that he is now reunited with his beloved bride and his Lord and Savior.

Funeral services will be 1pm Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Clary Funeral Home in Thayer, MO, with Speaker James Ray officiating, and burial following in the Arytown Cemetery.
