George August Mainprize, 89, passed away on August 2, 2026, at Shady Oaks Healthcare. George was born on December 7, 1936, in Washington, MO, to Othel and Elsie (Kappelmann) Mainprize. George was first united in marriage to Verna Simer. Together they welcomed 2 children, Danny Mainprize and Sally (Mainprize) Lopez. In 1981, George married Rosemary Garrison, with whom he shared 45 years. He is survived by: his wife, Rosemary Mainprize; his son, Danny Mainprize and wife Donna of Thayer, MO; his daughter, Sally Lopez and husband Danny of Arlington, TX; his daughter, Lisa Thiesen and husband Mike of Buffalo, MO; his grandchildren, Christina Mainprize of West Plains, MO, Jennifer Garrison of Orrick, MO, Melony Anderson of Norfork, AR, Darcy Mainprize of Springfield, MO, Brooke Lemaster of Monett, MO, and Aaron Thieson of Springfield, MO. George was preceded in death by: his parents, Othel and Elsie Mainprize; his brother, Junior Mainprize; and his stepsons, Larry Garrison and Gary Garrison. George was a proud 50 year member of Clifton Masonic Lodge No. 463 in Thayer and was also a Shriner of the Ararat Shrine Temple in Kansas City. He enjoyed attending Thayer Bobcat football and basketball games for as long as he was able. Above all, George cherished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In keeping with his generous spirit, George donated his body to Genesis in Memphis, TN, for medical research and training. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. |
