Johanna “Joan” Loughlin Collins, age 92, was born March 8, 1933, in Dromahair, County Leitrum, Ireland, to Michael and Mary Loughlin. She passed away November 21, 2025, at home.

Joan traveled to the USA in her teens where she finished school and started working in the Empire State Building in New York City as an accountant. She met and married Virgil Collins who was in the US Navy at the time. Together they were stationed all over from coast to coast and to this marriage 2 daughters were born. When Virgil retired from the Navy they moved to his hometown of Mammoth Spring, where they lived for 40 years. She and Virgil were married 65 years until his death in 2022.

Survivors include: her 2 daughters, Karen Collins of Pomona, MO, and Dorothy Ashbrook of Pomona, MO; 1 sister, Rose McGee of Sligo, Ireland; special friends Patti Ashbrook and Kim Hurley; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Those who preceded her in death are: her parents, Michael and Mary Loughlin; her husband, Virgil Collins; her grandson, Steven Vaughn, who set the moon and the stars in the sky for her; son-in-law, Doug Ashbrook; 2 brothers, William Loughlin and Christopher Loughlin from Ireland; 2 sisters, Maura Byrne from England and Phyllis Feeney from Ireland.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be 11am Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the Clary Funeral Home in Thayer, MO, with Bro. Jim Collins officiating, and burial following in Flint Cemetery in Wirth, AR. Visitation will be 10am-11am just prior to the service.
