With heavy hearts, we share that John William Bullock passed away unexpectedly in his sleep on July 2nd, 2025, at the age of 56. Though his departure came without warning, he left this world the way he lived—quietly, humbly, and on his own terms.

Born on April 25th, 1969, in Thayer, MO, John William Bullock was a man of strength, grit, and wisdom. He knew how to solve problems, fix what was broken, and figure things out the hard way, because he lived it every day. He built his life around hard work, simplicity, and a raw respect for the great outdoors. Whether he was hunting, fishing, splitting wood, or getting his hands dirty in the garage, he found peace and purpose in staying busy, a trait he passed on to his children. He had a kind of strength that didn’t need to be spoken about—it showed in his hands, in the long days he worked without complaint, and in the way others leaned on him when life got hard.

John was human, with his share of faults like anyone else, but one thing was undeniable—he loved his family. "Grampy” was the title he wore best—a role he embraced fully and never failed to live up to.

He is survived by his children: Blake Bullock and his six children; Kelly Bullock and his daughter, Grace; Kaitlin Bullock and her son, Finlee; and Makayla Smithee and her two children. He is also survived by his mother, Sherry Powell; his brother, Dwayne Bullock; and his sister, Marie Lambert.

From every deer stand, turkey blind or fishing boat...
To every grilled meal and football game
Phone calls and evenings in his garden
He will be missed.

In his memory, the family asks that you take a moment to do something he loved—whether it’s spending time outdoors, casting a line in the water, enjoying a Miller Highlife, or just sitting with good company.

A gathering to honor his life will be held at a later date.
