Brenda Kaye (Roy) O’Neill, age 71, was born August 1, 1953 in Alton, MO and passed away May 5, 2025 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO. On April 27, 1978, Brenda was united in marriage to the love of her life, Joseph O’Neill. They were blessed with one daughter, Jennifer Barr. Brenda worked at the Oregon County Abstract and Title Company on the square in Alton, MO for many years. She held several secretarial positions over the years, ending with the Eleven Point Canoe Rental where she greeted people from all walks of life, and made people feel welcome in our small town. Many returned because of her courtesy, friendliness, and hospitality. She enjoyed volunteering at school when she could and was known as everyone’s “Gigi.” Brenda loved so many people around her. When you got to know her, you became a lifelong friend. Her husband, Joe, called her his angel because of her radiant glow from her beautiful smile and her natural, platinum blonde hair that made her stand out in a crowd. She was a devoted Christian and member of the Many Springs Baptist Church in Alton, MO. After moving to Rover, MO several years ago, she and her family attended Shilo Baptist Church. Brenda had a love for books and had often wanted to be a librarian. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, hunting, fishing, and playing with her grandchildren. Anyone who visited with her knew that her family was her world, and she loved her two grandbabies with her whole heart. Brenda was the kind of person who would drop everything at a moment’s notice to help someone in need or be there for her family. She always put others before herself and was kind to everyone. No matter what difficult times she faced in this life, she always remained positive and would be encouraging to others facing difficult times. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, strength, humor, wisdom, and a heart full of love that touched countless lives. Brenda is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph William O’Neill; her daughter, Jennifer Lovena Barr (Brad); and two grandchildren, Bella Lavina Barr and Beau Bradley Barr. She was preceded in death by her parents: Floyd Garvin and Jessie Edith Roy; her sister, Nora Edith Torrey, and brother, Billy Wayne Roy. Funeral services will be 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Clary Funeral Home in Alton, MO with Bro. Bob Wiggs officiating. Burial will follow at the Many Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service. |
