Carolyn Jean (Crews) Trantham was born May 12, 1955, to Ruth Imogene (Johnson) Crews and Sherman Armistice Crews. She shared her birth date with her twin sister Marilyn. She graduated Alton High School with the class of 1973. She received an associate of business from Lynn Tech in 1975. On April 15, 1978, she was united in marriage to Charles Trantham at the Smyrna Free Will Baptist Church where Carolyn attended with her sisters. To this union two sons were born Andrew (Amy) Trantham and Christopher (April) Trantham. Carolyn had a green thumb and could make anything grow. She enjoyed her flowers and making a big garden out of which she canned her produce, especially lots of green beans. Carolyn was an example Christian with unwavering faith in her savior Jesus. She was a Sunday School, Bible school and Children’s Church teacher. She was constantly involved with her family, especially her grandchildren’s daily lives and the problems they faced. Whatever the situation she would constantly tell them to pray about it. The last year of her life Carolyn faced a battle with cancer. She never lost hope. She spent many trips to Mountain Home to Highland Oncology. The people there got to know her well. She would come in the door and the people at the desk would greet her with, “Hello Mrs. Carolyn we’ve got you checked in.” The nurse would greet her with, “Hello Mrs. Carolyn how are you today”? She would reply, “I am fine I know where I am going.” She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Grover and wife Darlene (Sloan) Crews. Sherman Crews Jr., nephew Justin Crews and brother-in-law Monte Yates. She is survived by her husband Charlie, sons Andy and wife Amy Trantham, Christopher and wife April Trantham. Three grandsons Seth and wife Tatum, Cole and Eli Trantham. Two granddaughters Emma and Ellie Trantham. Sisters Marilyn (Mark) Eldringhoff of West Plains, MO. Diana Yates of Fordland, MO. Sister-in-law Deanna Crews, sister-in-law Christy (Dennis) Johnson, brother-in-law Keith (Thess) Trantham. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and the church family which she loved at the Alton Freewill Baptist Church. Visitation will be 10-11:00am Saturday, December 7, 2024 at the Alton Freewill Baptist Church with services to follow at 11: 00am. Officiating will be Bro. Wayne Adrian and Bro Bob Wiggs, special music by Pam and Kelly Johnson. Pallbearers Seth, Cole and Eli Trantham, Dillon, Payton and Daniel Weyland.
