Sharon Delaine “Sheri” Jones was born on January 27, 1948, in Thayer, MO, to Amos and Mabel Ann Freeman. She was baptized at the age of 15 at the Church of Christ. She was married to Michael Lee Bala on October 25, 1964, in Salem, AR, and to this union her son Michael Keith Bala was born on July 27, 1965.

She worked at Puritan Fashions in Thayer, MO, for 9 years. After that she worked at Shady Oaks Healthcare for 28 years. She also worked as a receptionist for Dr. Phillips’ office for 11 years and then as a mail carrier at the Thayer Post Office for 13 years. On July 10, 1990, Sharon married Carroll R. Jones in West Plains, MO. He was a funeral director and a mortician at Carter Funeral Home in Thayer, MO, and later worked at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home in West Plains, MO. Carroll was a wonderful husband and a great father to Michael Keith. Sharon was also on the board of Commissioners of the Thayer Housing. Sharon attended Green Light Pentecostal Church in Thayer, MO, for several years.

She is preceded in death by: her parents, Amos and Mabel Ann Freeman; her husband, Carroll Jones; and her son, Michael Keith Bala.

She is survived by several cousins and many, many special friends. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

Sharon would like to thank her special caregiver Debbie Wells who worked 7 days a week for her & my Michael Keith. Debbie was an angel and was like family. Thanks also go out to the Cox Health at Home team, and the great care received from the OMC Hospice Care team. A special thank you to the Hospice Chaplain, Eric Bowman, for the many wonderful visits. Sharon would also like to thank her dear friends for being there when she needed them the most: Linda Seymour, Karlene, Anna Mae, and Mary Rogers.

Graveside services will be 1pm Friday, June 3, 2022, at the Jeff Cemetery in Myrtle, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Thayer, MO.
