Emma Lou (Warren) Stogsdill, age 89 of Alton, MO, daughter of Mack and Hettie (Breeden) Warren, was born January 23, 1933, in the Smyrna Community, Oregon County, MO and passed away April 7, 2022, at Shepherds View, Alton, MO. She was united in marriage to Kenneth Stogsdill on February 10, 1951, 64 years and eleven months of marriage. She attended the one room school at Smyrna 1st thru 8th grade and graduated 12th grade from Alton High School in 1950. She worked several years for the South Missourian Democrat. When not working, she did some babysitting. She was saved at an early age and attended Smyrna and Alton Freewill Baptist Churches until her health kept her from attending. She enjoyed reading, watching ballgames, knitting, crocheting, putting puzzles together, doing word search, plastic canvas crafts and making name tags for the resident’s doors at Shepherds View. She kept a spotless home and was well known by her family and friends for her home-made hot rolls and lemon cake. She is survived by one son Dave Stogsdill and wife Robin, granddaughter Amanda Stogsdill, all of Perryville, MO, sisters Loviena Strain, Alton, MO, Kay Hensley, West Plains, MO, brother Mackey Warren and wife Michelle, Livingston, MT, sisters-in-law Myrna Croft, Springfield, MO, Pearl Stogsdill, Alton, MO, Eunice Stogsdill, Bourbon, MO, several nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, church family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother J.T. Warren, father-in-law and mother-in-law Wellie and Susie Mae Stogsdill, sister-in-law Fern Freeman, brothers-in-law Denzil Hensley, Frank Johnson, Hubert Strain, Harold Stogsdill, Hugh Stogsdill, Carl Shehorn, nephews Rodney Johnson, Jimmy Warren, Steven, Kelly and Randy Shehorn. Emma Lou’s family would like to thank the staff with Three Rivers Hospice, Shepherds View and Shady Oaks for the loving care they provided. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 pm Monday, April 11, 2022 at the Clary Funeral Home, Alton, MO with service to follow at 2:00pm, Bro. Wayne Adrian and Darrin Hensley to officiate. Burial will be in the Smyrna Cemetery. |
