Van Baker was born the son of John Baker and Verbal (Harper) Baker on June 6, 1953, in Thayer, Missouri, and departed this life on February 18, 2021, at his home in Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 67 years. He was united in marriage on November 2, 1973 to Pam Mainprize. He is survived by his wife Pam Baker, of the home in Thayer, Missouri; one son, Jason Baker and wife Holly of Thayer, Missouri; one daughter, Tracy Miller of Springfield, Missouri; three granddaughters, Melanie, Belle and Emmy; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Verbal Baker and his brother George Baker. Van was a graduate of Alton High School with the class of 1971. He went to College of the Ozarks on a baseball scholarship before returning to work on the family farm. Van was known for being a hard worker, he had a passion for working the land, designing & fabricating metal. His granddaughters were the light of his life. Van’s friends & family will miss seeing him at the round table at the Country Cottage. Funeral services for Van Baker, age 67, of Thayer, will be held Monday, February 22 at 2:00 PM at the Clary Funeral Home in Thayer with Erman Croney officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, February 22nd from 1:00 PM until time of service. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Rose Hill Cemetery |
