Opal Darlene Crews, age 67 of Alton, MO, daughter of Norman and Christine(Redburn)Sloan, was born June 1, 1953 in Thayer, MO and passed away December 13, 2020, at Cox South in Springfield, MO. She was united in marriage on November 28, 1975 at Smyrna Church in Alton, MO to Grover Crews, and to this union two children were born, Leslie and Justin. She is survived by her daughter, Leslie and husband Daniel of Alton, three grandchildren, Dillon, Payton and Madison of Alton, parents Norman and Christine Sloan of Alton, 1 sister Arlene Ruff and husband Mike of Kansas City, 3 sister in laws, Carolyn Trantham and husband Charles of Alton, Marilyn Eldringhoff and husband Mark of West Plains, Diana Yates of Fordland, 1 brother in law Junior Crews and wife Deanna of St. Louis, 7 nephews, Michael Ruff and wife Jamie of Kansas City, Andy Trantham and wife Amy of Alton, Chris Trantham and wife April of Alton, Jeremy Crews of Georgia, Stanton Crews of Nevada, Joe Yates of Springfield, Henry Eldringhoff of West Plains, and 3 nieces, Christie Glaze and husband Steve of Kansas City, Shauna Norris and husband Eric of Joplin and Abby Eldringhoff of West Plains. Preceding her in death was her husband Grover Crews, son Justin Crews and brother Norman(Tootie)Sloan Darlene graduated Alton High School in 1971 and attended college at MSU in Springfield, Missouri. After she was married she worked as the Bookkeeper/Superintendent's secretary/Board secretary at Oregon-Howell school district for 29 years. She was a member of the Alton Freewill Baptist Church and was baptized in 2003. She was an amazing Granny to her 3 grandchildren. You could find her in the crowd cheering each one of them on whether they were playing basketball, baseball, softball, running cross country or gymnastics. She never missed a game or event. She was very loved and will be greatly missed. Services will be Thursday December 17 at 11:00am at the Alton Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Charles Trantham officiating. Burial will be at Shiloh Cemetery under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home, Alton, MO. Visitation will be Wednesday December 16 from 6:00-8:00 at the Alton Freewill Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make contributions to the Gideons or The Justin Crews Memorial Scholarship. |
