David Elgan Holman, Jr age 80 of Alton was born October 23, 1940 and entered his eternal home November 29, 2020. David was united in marriage on April 3, 1960 to Mary Ann Pitts. To this union were two sons. Jeff and wife Michelle, Jeral and wife Regina all of Alton, MO. Five grandchildren, Jana Wilkerson, husband Max, Tyler Holman, wife Cari, Abby Casey, husband Chad, Tori Edwards, husband Jed and Treyce Holman. Six great grandchildren, Cameron, Bristal, Crayton, Carstyn, Emalyn and Ellisyn., one sister Dana Stroud of North Little Rock, Ark, one brother Dwight Holman and wife Sue, one sister in-law - Judy Holman, all of Alton, one brother in law Curtis Pitts and wife Carol of Thayer, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Preceding him in death was the love of his life of 65 years, Mary Ann, his parents, Elgan "Huse" and Ruth (Allen) Holman, one brother Darrell Holman, brother in law Carlos Stroud, Keith Pitts and wife Paulette and one great-granddaughter Londyn Reese Casey. David worked for the local telephone company for 25 years and was fortunate to retire at 52 and enjoy several happy years of retirement. In 1962, David was ordained as a deacon of the Bailey Freewill Baptist Church where he serviced diligently throughout the remainder of his life. David loved his family and church more than anything. He had a nickname for everyone and you could always expect a big hug whenever you saw him. He loved to eat, cook and feed anyone who entered his home. He was an avid squirrel and coon hunter, fisherman and loved the outdoors. His hobbies included breaking and training his teams of mules and horses. When he and Mary Ann were able they had huge gardens and loved harvesting and canning vegetables. He loved and was dearly love by all who knew him. Services will be 2:00 pm Sunday, December 6, 2020 in front of the Bailey Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Bailey Freewill Baptist Cemetery, under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home, Alton, MO. Pallbearers Mark, Billy, Brent, Tanner, Tyson and Bryce Holman, honorary pallbearers Tom Dills, Gayle Arasmith, Todd Hornback, Billy Hornback, Max Wilkerson, Chad Casey, Jed Edwards, Tyler and Treyce Holman, Matt and Mark Pitts, Steven Clark, Gary McClanahan and Norm Hollis. |
