Billy Joe Yarber was born on April 17, 1936. He left this earth on November 13, 2020. Bill was the son of Willie and Bessie Reed Yarber, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his sister Delois and her husband, H.L. Hunt. Bill went to High School in Couch, Missouri. To catch the bus, he rode a ferry across the 11 Point River. Bill played basketball in high school. After graduating at Couch High School, his first year of college was at Walnut Ridge. He graduated from Jonesboro College with a Bachelor of Science Degree and Masters in Education. He first taught in one room rural schools. Bill met Carmen Dills through his cousin, Phyllis. They dated for one year and married July 2, 1960. They lived in the bootheel when their first child, Joel Eric was born. Bill taught at many schools and eventually ended up at Affton, Missouri. Bill and Carmen had their second child, Kyle Alan Yarber. Bill liked to stay busy. After he retired he worked different jobs. Bill enjoyed floating the river and collected baseball caps. He made so many trips to the airport, picking up and dropping off relatives, Bill was given a cap with the title Official Chauffeur. Bill enjoyed cars and could identify most makes and models. Their son Kyle married Molly, on his parents wedding anniversary. The highlight of Bill's later years was his precious granddaughter, Sadie Louise. Graveside services will 4pm Saturday, November 14, 2020, at the Dills Cemetery in Alton, MO, with Bro. Steve Biffle officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Alton, MO. |
