Barbara Arlene Powell was born to Frank and Alice (Hines) Madden on October 6, 1950, in Thayer, Missouri, and peacefully departed this life in her sleep on the morning of Wednesday, July 15th, 2020, at her family home, at the age of 69 years, nine months, and nine days.

She was united in marriage to Clarence Powell in Thayer, Missouri by the Reverend Charles Gower on August 14th, 1970.

Survivors include four children, Delores Wooldridge and her husband Michael of Thayer, Missouri, Rebecca Hahn and her husband Lance of Millersville, Missouri, Keith Powell and his wife Jessiy of Thayer, Missouri, and Wesley Powell and his wife Lacey of O'Fallon, Missouri; one sister, Debbie Miller of Koshkonong, Missouri; three brothers, Frankie Madden of Thayer, Missouri, Robert Madden and his wife Judy of Mount Vernon, Missouri, and Clifford Madden, who thought of Barbara as a mother, and his wife Tina of West Plains, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Lileigh, Shandi, Emily, Sophie, Kayleigh, Mason, Alexander, Allison, as well as an unborn grandson Preston Cage due this month; one great grandson Ashton and his unborn baby brother due at the end of August; and finally, her myriad of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, who was the love of her life, and a baby brother Roy Bruce.

Barbara worked at Jones Glass since 2005 as their bookkeeper. Barbara fulfilled her lifelong dream of graduating college, with a Bachelor's of Science Summa Cum Laude from Drury University as well as being elected to Who's Who among students in America Universities and colleges in recognition of outstanding merit and accomplish as a student and a Master's of Arts in History from ASU-Jonesboro. Her college friend stated that "she gave without expecting anything in return." She loved reading and especially anything to do with the Civil War.

She loved her family beyond measure and will be remembered as the glue that held the family together.

"For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we lie therefore, or die, we are the Lord's. Romans 14: 7,8 "

Visitation is Monday, July 20, 2020, at 10am at Clary Funeral Home in Thayer, MO, with funeral services following at 11:00 am with Bro. Jared Russell officiating. Interment will be at Norman Cemetery.
