Jimmy Patrick Sons Sr., 70, a resident of Birch Tree, Missouri and former resident of Morgan City, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2020 at Baton Rouge General Hospital. Jimmy was born on December 28, 1949 in Berwick, the son of Julian Justin Sons and Lydia Granier Sons. Jimmy was a true outdoors man who made his living as a boat captain navigating the waterways of Louisiana. When he wasn’t working he enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. Moving to the country in the hills of southern Missouri had its advantages as Jimmy enjoyed a good cup of coffee on his back porch while squirrel hunting. Jimmy loved the Lord and loved reading his bible and truly loved his church fellowship. Jimmy served his country proudly in the United States Army during Vietnam serving in the military police as a sentry dog handler. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Betty DeHart Sons of Birch Tree, Missouri; seven children, Joseph Sons and wife Charleen of New Iberia, Michael Sons and wife Kalynda of Birch Tree, Missouri, Tammy Gary and husband Chris of Youngsville, Peggy Gober and husband Barry of Patterson, Marilyn Townsend and husband Johnathan of Alton, Missouri, Crystal Dugas and husband Darren of Marshfield, Missouri and Jimmy Sons Jr. and wife Renee of Erath; 22 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother, Barry L. Sons; two sisters, Irma lee Lombes and Dianne S. Sheehan; one aunt, Nell Granier Naquin. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Julian and Lydia Granier Sons; 10 siblings, Myrtleen Sons, Leola Sons, Ballard Sons, Lloyd Noel Sons, Horace Ivy Sons, Shirley Mae Rock, Myrvel Sons, Zelda Gloria Fromenthal, Julian Justin “Sonny†Sons Jr., Paulette Wilson. |
