John Willard Scott, age 96 of Mammoth Spring, AR, was born October 9, 1924, in Myrtle, MO, and passed away May 9, 2020, at his home.

Survivors include: 2 sons, Michael Scott and wife Anne-Marie of Jefferson City, MO, Preston Scott and wife Joyce of Batesville, AR; 2 daughters, Lesa Lundry and husband Kerry of Mammoth Spring, AR, Staria Vanderpool and husband Richard of Fulton, MO; 12 grandchildren, Kelsea Scott, Shawna Scott, Brenna Scott, Jennifer Lundry-Jackson and Husband Clayton, Amber Ahrens and husband Jordan, Curtiss Scott and wife Abby, Rebekah Louk and husband Chad, Sam Scott and wife Amy, Nathan Scott, Dan Scott and wife Apryl, Robert Scott, Justin Scott; 15 great-grandchildren, Jaxson Lundry, Brayden Ahrens, Mason Ahrens, Mollie Ahrens, Weston Scott, Aleah Scott, Gunnison Scott, Quinton Scott, Ryker Scott, Ulys Louk, Emmett Scott, Anna Scott, Zane Scott, Daniel Scott, Tyson Scott; and numerous other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by: his wife, Nedra Jean (Young) Scott; his parents, Samuel Preston and Nora (Nance) Scott.

John graduated 8th grade from Couch School. Later he enlisted in the U.S. Army on February 24, 1944, where he served in the European African Middle Eastern Theater as an Automatic Rifleman with a Combat Infantry Badge in the 289th Infantry. He was Honorably Discharged on December 28, 1945, after receiving a good conduct medal and a Purple Heart with One Oak Leaf Cluster. He married Nedra Jean Young on May 25, 1955, with whom John bought a homestead in 1955. His occupations included farming, the U.S. Army, the logging industry, oil field, and woodworking.

Graveside services will be 10am Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at the Edd Collins Cemetery in Wirth, AR, with members of the family officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Thayer, MO.
