Douglas Lee (Doug) Kester, Sr., was born April 8, 1950, in Oregon County, MO, the son of Beatrice (Wells) Mulkey, and went home to be with Jesus on February 15, 2020, at the Shady Oaks Nursing Home at the age of 69. Doug is survived by: his only son, Lee Kester, Jr., and wife Teresa of Thayer, MO; 3 grandchildren, Tasha Reeves of Gatewood, MO, Adam Combs and wife Amy of Clever, MO, and Jesse Critten of Thayer, MO; 4 great-grandchildren who fondly call him “Grandpa Doug”, Macy and Macoy Reeves and Addilyn and Aliyah Combs; 4 brothers, Ronnie Kester and wife Kathy of Smyrna, TN, Darrell Kester and wife Linda of Kearney, MO, Dale Kester and wife Jeannie of Koshkonong, MO, Jimmy Pace and wife Sarah of Mammoth Spring, AR. He was preceded in death by: his mother, Beatrice (Wells) Mulkey; 2 brothers, Larry Kester and Denny Kester. Doug enjoyed spending his time at auctions looking for bargains and working on vehicles. He will always be remembered for his love of animals. He was very seldom seen around Thayer without his faithful Dog, “Lollipop”, following close behind. Doug loved the Lord and was a member of the Stateline Pentecostal Church. A Celebration of Life will be held 2pm Saturday, February 22, 2020, at the Clary Funeral Home in Thayer, MO, with Bro. Wayne Hurst officiating, with burial following in the Thayer Cemetery. Visitation will be 12pm-2pm just prior to the service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Thayer, MO. |
