John Raymond Nuwer was born on 8/28/1939 in Mercedes, Texas to Raymond H. Nuwer and Agnes Mary(Hock)Nuwer. He spent all his life after age 10 in Alton, Mo and graduated from Alton High School. He serve 2 years in the US Army. John took over the family farm which he loved and worked even to his death. He raised cattle until 2002. At age 50 John married Carolyn Winterfeld and made a family with her 2 sons Douglas and Donavan Winterfeld. For almost 30 years John and Carolyn traveled every summer with first a pop-up and then a 5th wheel. They even ventured across the pond. They were each others best friend. He is survived by his wife of the home, step-son Donavan Winterfeld (Crystal), of Alton, sister Noreene Wooldridge of Springfield and brother Allen Nuwer of Alton. Daughter-in-law Heather Robertson of Wirth, Ark. He is preceded in death by his parents and step-son Douglas Winterfeld. He had two step-granddaughters, Jordan & Alexis and two granddaughters, Isabella & River Winterfeld. One nephew John Wooldridge (Maria) of Springfield and many nieces and nephews on this wife side. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Church in Thayer since 1950. He was a good friend and had many of them. He was a special person. He will be missed by all that knew him. Services will be 10:00 am Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at the Sacred Heart Church, Thayer, MO, burial in the Hickory Grove Cemetery, Alton, MO. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday at the Clary Funeral Home, Thayer, MO. |
