John Wesley Barton was born on October 22, 1928, to Irvin and Vivian Barton. John departed this life at his home in Alton, MO, on June 10, 2019 at the age of 90.

He was united in marriage December 17, 1948, to Helena Orr. They were blessed with four sons.

John was inducted into the Marines on September 15, 1952. He completed his service in 1954, with an honorable discharge, at which time he returned to his job at the Division of Family services where he worked until his retirement.

He is survived by one son: Joseph Mark Barton and wife, Donna of Wilderness, MO; daughter-in-law Tracey Barton, of Branson, MO; five grandchildren: Adam Barton and wife Breanna, Wesley Barton, Andrew Barton, Alex Barton, and Jessie Barton; and two great grandchildren: Norah Barton and Shepherd Barton and numerous nephews and nieces.

John was a founding member and deacon of the Victory Free Will Baptist Church. He served on various community boards and worked with hospice for many years. He was an avid gardener and woodworker.

John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, both parents, twin brother Joe, and three sons: Glenn, Michael, and John David.

Visitation will be Friday, June 14, 2019, at 12:00 noon at the Victory Free Will Baptist Church followed by the funeral at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Cave Springs Cemetery.
