William Robert Thompson was born August 16, 1926, in Stotesbury, MO, to Lyle and Alma Thompson and departed this life on June 3, 2019, at the age of 92 years. His family later moved to Koshkonong, MO, where he graduated from Koshkonong High School.

Bob was inducted in the the Army in November of 1945. While too young for the war, Bob served in the occupation force in Germany. He was honorably discharged in February of 1947.

He was married to Eva Macklay on February 14, 1948. Although they had no children of their own, they were particularly close to their nieces and nephews.

They lived for many years in Denver, CO, where Bob was a barber and later a contractor. Bob was especially proud of his accomplishments as a contractor. Over the years he built dozens if not hundreds of homes, in addition to numerous apartment buildings and shopping centers. Upon retirement, they moved back to West Plains. Bob enjoyed bird hunting and golfing with his friends at the West Plains Country Club.

He is survived by nephews, Wayne Hunsperger, Ken Hunsperger, John Armstrong and Gary Staley, as well as nieces Vickie Greenwood, Laurie Filla and Gayla Huddle. He also had a good friend, faithful to the end, Bob Sargent. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Eva in 2013, and by his sister, Lorene Brooks. He will be missed.

Graveside services will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at the Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, MO, with Bro. George Box officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Thayer, MO.
