Wayne Benton Wright beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle passed away on February 21, 2019. Wayne was born November 30, 1944, in Alton, Missouri to Buryl N. Wright and Helen Watson Wright. Wayne was the eldest of three, Frances Wright Hudson and Bobby Joe Wright. Wayne grew up running the back roads, barefooted, with his many cousins in the “Symrni” (Symrna) community where he attended elementary school. He loved sharing stories of his wonderful memories of Pa Arch and Granny Susie. Many legendary tales were spun by the Wrights, Watson and Warrens. Wayne graduated from Alton High School in 1962. After graduation, Wayne served in the US Air Force. He loved sharing stories of his service in England and Scotland. In 1965, Wayne married Judy McDaniel. After his service, he and Judy returned to Alton where they started their family. Wayne & Judy welcomed Michael Wayne and Jeffery Phillip. While Wayne and Judy never had daughters they have three very special girls who they love as their daughters. Wayne never missed a chance to tell folks how proud he was of his nieces Amy, Holly and Sara. Wayne worked at Wright Brothers Station with his dad and brother for many years. Upon the retirement of their dad, Wayne and Bobby co-owned and operated the station. Wayne was a passionate Democrat and avid collector of Daisy b.b. guns, Colt and Winchester rifles and much more. Wayne treasured his family. He was never far from Judy’s side. Wayne didn’t care to be too far away from Oregon county, but when his grandkids were involved, his arm could sometimes be twisted. He ventured to the ballfields, beaches, Branson and even rode roller coasters because the grandkids asked. Wayne was preceded in death by: his father Buryl Wright; mother Helen Mae Wright; sister, Frances Hudson; and mother in law Catherine McDaniel. Wayne is survived by a loving wife, Judy McDaniel Wright of Alton, MO; children, Michael & Hope Wright of Junction City, KS, Jeffery & Tressa Wright of Lee’s Summit, MO; 3 grandchildren Jacob (Adrienne), Thalen, and Tayla; 1 great grandchild (Benjamin); brother, Bobby & Beverly Wright of Alton, MO; nephew, Jason (Tricia) of Little Rock, AR; nieces, Amy Wright (Jason); Holly Reese (Blake), Sara Wheeler (John); great nieces and nephews, Jace, Jaylee, Kayden, Sophia, Lilly, Henry and host of beloved extended family. The family will have an informal visitation on Saturday, February 23rd and Sunday, February 24th from 12pm-3pm at the home of Wayne and Judy Wright. |
