Alvin Elwood Clark, age 84 of Thayer, MO, was born January 14, 1934, in Wardell, MO, and passed away September 15, 2018, at the Shady Oaks Healthcare in Thayer, MO. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Reeves on May 21, 1955. Survivors include: his wife, Carolyn, of the home; 1 daughter, Alissa (Clark) Brown; 3 grandchildren; 1 brother, John Clark; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Newman and Mary (Edney) Clark; 2 children, Deborah Clark and Michael Clark; 3 sisters; 1 brother. Al joined the Navy at 17, served in the Korean Conflict, then came home and graduated from Couch High School. He then married Carolyn and went to St. Louis where he learned many skills in different machine shops. This prepared him for a great job with McDonnell Douglas aircraft as a quality assurance rep in Tennessee and then in Texas until his retirement. He moved to Thayer where he was mayor for 2 terms, and he had many accomplishments for the city. He also built and restored several houses. Al loved his family very much and enjoyed life. Funeral services will be held 11am Saturday, September 22, 2018, at the Clary Funeral Home in Thayer, MO, with visitation prior to the service from 10am-11am. Burial will follow in the Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home in Thayer, MO. |
