William Leroy Crews, of Alton, MO, son of William Elvin and Leona (Barton) Crews, was born September 1, 1937, in Royal Oak, MO, and passed away March 24, 2018, at the age of 80, at the Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, MO.

Leroy enjoyed playing basketball in his high school years. After high school he served in the US Army. After the Army, he met his wife, Shirley Mae Whittenberg and married August 14, 1961. Leroy & Shirley had 5 children during their marriage: William Elvin Crews & wife Darlene (Coin) Crews, Gary Wayne Crews, Janie Lynette Crews, Jeanne Mae (Crews) Earls & husband Marty Earls, and Karen Leona (Crews) Bridges & husband Bradley Douglas Bridges. Along with 5 children they have 4 grandchildren: Andrea (Crews) Martin & husband Cassidy Martin, Haley Earls, April Earls, and August Earls. They have 4 great-grandchildren: Isabelle Martin, Jacob Martin, Rhett Martin, and Branch Martin.

A couple of years after marriage Leroy & Shirley moved to Alton, MO, and started farming. Leroy's love of farming continued throughout his life. Leroy loved his wife, children, family & farm. He was a born again Christian and enjoyed listening to Bluegrass music at home.

Leroy was preceded in death by: his parents, William Elvin and Leona (Barton) Crews; 3 brothers, Grover Dale Crews, Sherman Crews, and Barton Crews.

Funeral services will be 2pm Monday, March 26, 2018, at the Clary Funeral Home in Alton, MO, with burial in the Shiloh Cemetery in Alton, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Alton, MO.
