Cheryl Lynn (Horn) Stone was born January 22, 1952 in Peoria Illinois to Russell Horn and Wilma Hensley Horn.

She lived her younger years in Illinois and in the Bakersfield, Caulfield, Mo areas. Her parents eventually settled in Rockford, Il. There they attended the North Park Church of Christ where Cheryl first met Michael Stone. The two were married on June 7th, 1969 just a few days after Cheryl graduated from East High school in Rockford. Michael was in the Air Force and they were sent to Altus, Ok just a month after their wedding.

In Altus their union was blessed with a daughter, Katrina Lynn of Mammoth Spring, AR. After a short stay in Ft. Worth TX Mike was sent to Thailand. Although eight months pregnant, Cheryl was determined to go with him. It was in Bangkok that her son Jeffrey, now of Kansas, was born. Being an Air Force wife for nearly eight years, Cheryl lived and traveled to exotic locations. Once Mike became a preacher things didn’t change much with the two of them living in Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, Kansas, Canada and Nigerian West Africa. Cheryl was always a devoted and loving wife.

Blessed with two children and knowing the population problems, Cheryl and Mike adopted a group of six siblings, Tonya, and Shannon of Columbia MO, Bryan, of Hannibal MO, Nichole and Jeremy, also of Columbia and Kimberly, of Thayer MO.

Cheryl took a job for Riverways of the Ozarks when Jeffrey, who was then in the Air Force, was stationed in Germany shortly after the birth of her first grandchild, Malyssa. She often said she did it for the sole purpose of being able to afford to visit her in Manheim Germany. She did that twice during the three year deployment.

She loved her work more than she imagined she would. In January of 2017 she retired after 22 years of service to the elderly and infirm of the Thayer and Alton areas. Her clients were very dear to her heart.
On January fifteen, after many months of struggling with a heart worn out by service to so many, Cheryl went to her reward at 1 A.M.

She was preceded in death by both parents and by two brother. She is survived by her husband, Michael, all eight of her children, fifteen grandchildren, two sisters, and one brother.

Cheryl was first of all a Christian. Then a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother (Memaw) and wonderful servant-friend too many. The void she leaves will never be filled.

A memorial service will be 10am Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at the Delhalf Church of Christ on Highway V in Myrtle, MO. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Children's Home in Paragould, AR.
