Catherine Jane McDaniel (Knight), age 91 of Alton, MO, born February 20, 1926, in Grayridge, MO, passed away December 25, 2017, the day that would have marked the 75th wedding anniversary of Catherine and the love of her life, N.P. McDaniel. On November 27, 1943, Catherine gave birth to their daughter, Judy. Catherine spent many years as a coach’s wife. When she wasn’t at a baseball field or basketball court, she was driving a school bus. Catherine drove a school bus in Sikeston, MO, for 23 years before retiring. After retiring, Catherine moved to Alton, MO. Catherine helped raise her great grandchildren and many other “grandkidsâ€. Catherine will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Judy (Wayne) Wright of Alton, MO, her only surviving sister, Mary Moncada of Palm Harbor, FL, niece Debbie Sallings (and family) of Alton, MO, nephews Buddy, Larry and Jimmy Thomas of Carmi, IL, Joe and Chris Moncada of Palm Harbor, FL, and Jerry Michael Ross of Springfield, MO. Nana will be fondly remembered by her grandsons, Michael (Hope) Wright of Junction City, KS, and Jeff (Tressa) Wright of Lee’s Summit, MO. Nana will be sadly missed by her great grandchildren, Jacob (Adrienne), Thalen, and Tayla and by all of her special “Alton familyâ€- Bobby & Beverly Wright, Amy (Jason), Holly (Blake, Jace, Jaylee) and Sara (John, Kayden). Preceding her in death were her parents, Jack Knight and Letha Ann Griffin-Knight, her husband, N.P. McDaniel, one brother, Carl Knight, three sisters, Verna Mae Knight-Thomas, Lucille Knight, Betty Ross, and four infant siblings. A Celebration of Life will be at noon, Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the Alton Community Worship Center, across from Alton post office. Lunch will be served after the program. “Nana†will be remembered with love, memories, laughter, tears, music and food. Please join “Nana’s†family in this celebration of her life. |
