Dewitt Thatcher, age 97 of Thayer, MO was born November 19, 1918 in Adkins, AR and passed away January 22, 2016 in Wardell, MO.

Survivors include; seven children, Sue Hardin and Carl, Carolyn Myers and Jim, Glenda McDowell, Dewayne Thatcher and Marie, Maggie Swims and Mike, Clara Mann, David Thatcher, five sisters, Dorothy Larkins, Norma June Wilson, Euelene Davis, Shirley Stevens, Barbara Harrington, son-in-law, Larry Best, 33 grandchildren, 61 great-grandchildren, numerous great-great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hogan Thatcher and Maggie Reed Thatcher, his wife, Maybrean Meadows Thatcher, four children, Clyde, Joseph and Charles Thatcher, Patricia Best, three brothers, Alton, Buddy and Harold Thatcher, one sister, Virginia Hopgood, four son-in-laws, Kenneth McDowell, Luther Haynes, Bob Sizemore and Timothy Mann, three grandchildren, Jade Mann, Mark Thatcher and Brandon Collins.

Dewitt was united in marriage to Maybrean on August 4, 1939 in Kennett, MO. For many years he attended the Christian Tabernacle in Hardy, AR. He was a cotton farmer, carpenter and served as a pastor at a church in Hayti, MO.

Services will be 1:00 pm Monday, January 25, 2016 at the Clary Funeral Home, Thayer, MO with Bro. Luke Gibson officiating. Visitation will be 3:00-5:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Thayer Cemetery with Jamie, Josh and Joe Mann, Gene Haynes, Michael and John Michael Swims, Darrell Best and Manuel Thatcher as pallbearers.
