Kenneth Stogsdill, age 86 of Alton, MO was born November 3, 1929 at Couch, MO and passed away January 13, 2016 at Shepherds View Residential Care.

Kenneth was united in marriage to Emma L. Warren on February 10, 1951, 64 years and 11 months of marriage. He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953, was ordained as a Deacon November 26, 1967 at Smyrna Freewill Baptist Church and was a member of the Alton Freewill Baptist Church. He worked for the railroad when he lived in St. Louis, and after moving to Alton, he worked at Wright’s Service Station, Simpson’s True Value and Young’s Produce. He also did some carpentry work, taking pride in his carpentry work as well as his gardening and yard work.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Emma L. Stogsdill of the home in Alton, one son, Dave Stogsdill and wife Robin, granddaughter, Amanda Stogsdill, all of Perryville, MO, brother, Hugh Stogsdill and wife Eunice of Bourbon, MO, brothers-in-law, Arlon Freeman of Arkansas, Mackey Warren and wife Michelle of Livingston, MT, sisters-in-law, Pearl Stogsdill, Loviena Strain, both of Alton, MO, Kay Hensley of Koshkonong, MO, special friends, Joe and Linda Sultana, Farmers Branch, TX, several nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wellie and Susie Mae Rice Stogsdill, sister, Fern Freeman, brother, Harold Stogsdill, brothers-n-law, Carl Shehorn, J.T. Warren, Denzil Hensley, Frank Johnson, and Hubert Strain, nephews, Steven, Kelly, Randy Shehorn and Rodney Johnson.

Services will be 2:00 pm Friday, January 15, 2016 at the Smyrna Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. Wayne Adrian officiating, burial to follow in the Smyrna Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home, Alton, MO.
