Muriel N. (Jim) Carriger, 80 of Jackson Mo., formerly of Alton Mo. and St. Jacob IL passed away December 29 2015 in Cape Girardeau Mo.

He was born September 9, 1935 in Alsey IL to Leon and Lillian (McGuire) Carriger. On June 24, 1961 he married Wanda Sue Combs in Alton Mo. who survives in Jackson Mo.

He attended school in Alsey IL. In 1952 he joined the United States Army and served a 3year term as a paratrooper. He retired from Dial Corporation in 1997 after 33 years of dedicated service. After retirement he enjoyed fishing and hunting mushrooms. He enjoyed spending time at the Alton Senior Citizens Center shooting pool and playing the card game “pitch”. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sporting events and was quick to pay $5 for straight A’s and home runs.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church Alsey IL, Free Will Baptist Church Alton Mo. and Wesley United Methodist in Fruitland Mo. He was a founding member of the Triad High School booster club. He was a former member of the St. Jacob Lions club and a volunteer baseball coach for the St. Jacob Khoury League for many years.

Along with his wife of 54 years he is survived by his daughter Sudena (Jim) Lambert of Jackson Mo. son Bill (Kris) Carriger of Highland IL, a brother Earl (Keith) Carriger of Quincy IL and sister in law Alice Carriger of Rantoul IL. He is also survived by grandchildren Shelby (William Downey) Lambert, Tanner Lambert, Mitch Carriger, Trent Carriger and great- grandsons Brayden and Seth Downey as well as one niece and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents. In laws, W.B. and Dollie Combs. Stepmother Eva Carriger and a brother Lawrence (Richard) Carriger and his wife, Jackie.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday January 2nd at 11am at Clary’s Funeral Home Alton Mo. Visitation will be from 10am-11am prior to the service. Burial will be at the Cave Springs Cemetery.
