Murrel Gene Boren, age 81, of Thayer, MO, was born July 17, 1933, in Cardwell, MO, and passed away March 22, 2015, at National Health Care in West Plains, MO. Survivors include: his twin sister, Geraldine Johnson & husband Alvin of Myrtle, MO, and his youngest sister Linda Combs & husband Truman of Thayer, MO; sister-in-law Patsy Corner & husband David of St. Louis, MO; a host of nieces & nephews, numerous friends and relatives. He was preceded in death: his wife, Peggy (Roam) Boren; his son, Paul Boren; his parents, Eugene and Olive Mae (Muse) Boren; and his biological father Joseph Buman Ray. Gene was a member of the Thayer Chamber of Commerce, the Thayer Fun & Friends Senior Center, and the Missouri State Trail Ride Association, was a long time member of the Oregon County Country Music Association, the Oregon County Republican Committee, as well as the Old Welcome Hill Church of Christ in Mammoth Spring, AR. He also received the Thayer Chamber of Commerce “Citizen of the Year” award. Visitation will be 1pm-2pm Tuesday, March 23, 2015, at the Clary Funeral Home in Thayer, MO, with funeral services immediately following at 2pm, with Bro. Ben Shropshire. Burial will follow in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Thayer, MO. |
