James Albert Mills age 61 of Myrtle, MO, was born July 14, 1953, in Oregon County, MO, and passed away March 18, 2015, at his home. Survivors include: his wife, Janice (Shirrell) Mills, of the home; 1 son, Aaron Mills and wife Jody of Myrtle, MO; 1 granddaughter, Whitney Mills and fiancé Steven Ross of Alton, MO; 1 sister, Judy Washam and husband Eugene of Mammoth Spring, AR; 1 brother, Charles Mills and wife Sue of Thayer, MO; his sister-in-law, Judy Mills of Alton, MO; a brother-in-law Rick Shirrell and wife Sheila of Springfield, MO. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Othal “Jimmy” and Louise (McGhee) Mills; and 1 brother, Norman Ray Mills. James lived his whole life on the family farm in Myrtle. He worked 41 years for Tindle Feed at Thayer and West Plains Farm Center. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his best friend Aaron and granddaugther Whitney, where the “Elmore Hole” on the 11 Point River was his favorite fishing spot. He also loved spending time with his horses. James was a Christian man who lived by the Golden Rule, was a good neighbor, and his happiest times were spent with his family. Whitney was the apple of his eye, from watching her many ball games to watching her mature into such a wonderful young woman it was easy to see that she was his pride and joy. Visitation will be 1pm-3pm Sunday, March 22nd, 2015, at the Clary Funeral Home in Thayer, MO, with graveside services at Cotton Creek Cemetery immediate following visitation. Memorial contributions can be made to Cancer Research, ALS research, or the Gideons Bible.
