Georgia Burr (Whitten) Williams of Alton, MO, died January 9th, 2015, just 4 days shy of her 84th birthday at Shady Oaks Healthcare in Thayer, MO. Georgia was born January 13, 1931 to Charles Edgar and Samantha Jane Whitten. She graduated from Alton High School, received her teaching certificate, and went on to teach at the Wilderness School. She married Henry Williams on April 22, 1950. Together they raised two daughters, Charlotte Hall and Lori Doolin. Her home was always welcoming to others. She will be remembered fondly for her beautifully decorated cakes and countless delicious meals for anyone who dropped by. She was a superb cook. She and Henry played a vital role in raising many children by providing a loving daycare for numerous years. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Freewill Baptist Church and served as a woman's Sunday school teacher for many years. She is survived by her two daughters; Charlotte and Phill Hall of Dyersburg, TN and Lori and Dan Doolin of Wapello, IA, four granddaughters; Tristin Abair, Trina Roy, Bailey Hughes, and Makayla Doolin, one grandson; Tanner Doolin, and four great-grandchildren; Briley and Brooke Abair and Sofia and Elijah Roy. She is also survived by two brothers; Charles Whitten and Joe Whitten, and one sister; Carolyn Johnson. Georgia was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Williams, and five sisters; Frances Huddleston, June Williams, Hazel Reed, Emma Lou Casey, and Nancy Stanley. Services will be held Monday, January 12th, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Clary Chapel with Bro Phill Hall, Bro Dan Doolin, and Bro Edward Casey officiating. Internment will be in the Hickory Grove Cemetery under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Alton, MO. Visitation will be Monday from 12-1 p.m. in the Clary Chapel. |
