Nancy Jane (Lamar) Clary, age 88 of Alton, MO was born December 19, 1925 in Houston, MO and passed away November 20, 2014 at the Ozarks Medical Center, West Plains, MO. Survivors include; two sons, John Quinn Clary, JR and wife Cathy, Tom Clary and wife Diana, one sister, Lou Ann Denny, a daughter-in-law, Debbie, seven grandchildren, Jason and wife Erin, Chris and wife Emily, Matthew and wife Virginia, Marisa, Brad, Robert and wife Anna, Jonathan and wife Adrian, nine great-grandchildren, Jackson, Ally, Catherine, Taylor and husband Eric, Devin, Drew, Avery, Kade and Kanaan, and numerous other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, Kirby Lamar and Naomi (Leake) Lamar, husband, J. Q. Clary, SR, son James K. “Jim” Clary, grandson, Jamie Clary, sister, Mary Jean Stogsdill, four brothers, Jim and Richard Gentry, Kirby and Tom Lamar, and numerous others relatives and friends. Nancy and J. Q. founded the Clary Funeral Home in Alton, MO in June of 1948, and later, opened funeral homes in Mammoth Spring, AR and Thayer, MO. She was a member of the Alton United Methodist Church, Alton Cresite Club, Alton Extension Club, United Methodist Women, VFW Women’s Auxiliary, Rotary Women’s Auxiliary and Alton Chamber of Commerce, helped with various activities that her boys were involved with, including Alton 4-H Club, United Methodist Youth Group, Alton High School Band and Athletic booster clubs. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, knitting, doing crafts, and sewing, making many of her clothes as well as for her boys. When visiting Grandma Clary, when not eating candy or baked goods, the grand-kids and great-grand-kids often ended up on her lap, sitting at her sewing machine, making something. Services will 1:00 pm Monday, November 24, 2014 at the Clary Funeral Home, Alton, MO with Rev. Denzil Thomas officiating, burial in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, 6:00-8:00 pm at the Funeral Home. |
