Mary Carlene Wheeler was born January 1st 1947 to Mary Geraldine (Couch) and Edward Carl Wheeler Sr. in Tulsa Oklahoma. The Lord called Carlene home on April 13, 2014 after an almost 2 year battle with cancer. Carlene was artistic and loved singing and acting in high school and college. For years she raised her daughters while working as an office manager, going to UALR at night for her Bachelor's of History degree, and throwing a mean hook at her Friday night bowling league. She worked in the box offices of several theaters in Branson in her later years. She was a Girl Scout leader and a coach for her kids' bowling leagues. She volunteered at her home church, New Life, in Springfield, Mo. She spent time as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army and volunteered with Convoy of Hope. Carlene loved to knit and was very good at it. There are so many kids over the years, friends and family alike, that received handmade baby blankets. Cooking and recipe collecting were also favorites. She adored family reunions and genealogy. She was also a proud member of the Red Hat Society. She is survived by: her siblings Ed Wheeler Jr., Norman Wheeler and Glenna Robison; her daughters Michelle Wyatt and Brooke Johnson; her grandchildren Jerrica, Jaran, Justus, Juliana, Alexander and Ashley; and many cousins. And by her Maltese, Trooper, a great friend and comfort for her to the end. She was always a Lady, a Wonderful Friend, a Great Cousin, a Cherished Mother, a Beloved Grandmother.... and she will be missed greatly by many. Visitation will be 6:30-8:30pm Friday, April 18, 2014 at the Clary Funeral Home, Alton, MO. Graveside services will be Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Cave Springs Cemetery, Alton, MO. |
