Jack Oscar Gibson, son of Jack Gibson and Lucille (Warren) Gibson, was bron June 6, 1937, in Springfield, IL, and passed away February 25, 2014, at the Cox Health Center in Springfield, MO, at the age of 76 years, 3 months, and 11 days. He is survived by: his wife, Mary (Jay) Gibson; 5 daughters, Margie Monaghan and husband William of Galena, MO, Susan Russell and husband Leroy of Koshkonong, MO, Bonnie Hurst and husband Wayne of Thayer, MO, Margaret Risner and husband James of Thayer, MO, and Betty Bowers and husband Steve of Thayer, MO; 3 sons, Jim Gibson and wife Penny of Thayer, MO, Rick Gibson and wife Betty of Thayer, MO, and Steve Gibson and wife Christina of Thayer, MO; 27 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Lenard Waggoner of Poplar Bluff, MO; 1 sister, Ann Haile of Cantoment, FL; several nieces and nephews; a long time friend, Alvin Patillo. He is preceded in death by: his parents, Jack and Lucille (Warren) Gibson; 1 brother, Claude Waggoner; 2 sisters, Ruby Gilbert and Lillian Huddleston; 1 son, Larry Gibson. He was a migrant worker and a wood cutter and worked hard to provide for his family. He was a Christian, and was a deacon and Sunday school superintendent for 30 years, and attended the Stateline Pentecostal Church in Thayer, MO. Funeral services will be 11am Friday, February 28, 2014, at the Stateline Pentecostal Church in Thayer, MO, with burial following in the Cave Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be 6pm-8pm Thursday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Thayer, MO. |
