Gaylord (Jim) James Ward was born son of Warren Haskell Ward and Lyda Mae (Marr) Ward on October 5, 1948, in Corning, Arkansas, and departed his life February 13, 2014, at his home in Thayer, Missouri, at the age of 65 years.

He was united in marriage on June 25, 1986, in Falls Texas to Frances Rose Crossland. Later he was united in marriage on July 30, 2004, in Mammoth Spring, Arkansas, to Polly Leanora McGhee.

He is survived by: his wife Polly Ward; four step children, Mikel Sand, Melissa Pierce and husband Josh, Marty Sand and wife Brandy, Melinda Wilson and husband Jeremy; six grandchildren, Avery, Matt and Riley Pierce, Ely, Levi and Mayce Wilson; his father Warren Ward and stepmother Edna; one sister Shirley Dawson and husband Bruce; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother Lyda Ward and wife Frances Ward.

Jim served in Vietnam from 1967 to 1971. He was a retired diesel mechanic. His hobbies were farming, hunting, fishing, traveling, and visiting with people and most importantly his grandchildren.

Jim was a loving and kind person. He treasured the time spent with family and friends. Jim was a member of the Thayer Freewill Baptist Church.

A memorial service will be held at 5:30pm Friday, February 21, 2014, at the Thayer Freewill Baptist Church with Richard Robinson officiating.
