Gene Henry Friend, born September 10, 1938, in Oregon County, New Liberty, MO, went with his heavenly father June 5th, 2013, at the age of 74 years.

He was married to Mary J. Friend on March 30, 1957. 56 years of a wonderful marriage leaves many joyful memories for her, family and friends.

Gene is survived by: his wife, Mary. He was preceded in death by: his parents, John Henry Friend and Vera Kate Friend; father and mother-in-law, Alva and Hazel Elliott; his only brother, Donald Jr. Friend; three brother-in-laws, three sister-in-laws.

We celebrate his life, he was a unique person. He has many relatives very special to him, and friends that know and loved him. He also loved Missouri, enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Closing his business last year after 42 plus years gave him more time for his wife, family gatherings, long talks with friends, and his two special Yorkies. He is sadly missed by those who know and loved him.

Gene served in the US Army 1961-1963 at Fort Leonard Wood, MO and Fort Lewis, Washington.

Funeral services will be 2pm Thursday, June 6, 2013, at the Clary Funeral Home in Alton, MO, with Bro. Victor Elliot officiating, and burial following in the Bailey Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Alton, MO.
