Virginia Sue “Frosty” (Goodwin) Springfield, 75, daughter of the late Ernest “Bud” Goodwin and Zelma (Kirby) Grisham, was born on December 19, 1936, in Thayer, Missouri, and passed away July 4, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri after a short battle with liver cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Ray Springfield, after 54 years of love, laughter, and devotion to their family. Virginia is survived by a daughter, Jo Beth Kent of Springfield, MO; a son, Jimmy Springfield and his wife Wanda of Desoto, MO; a granddaughter, Bethany Kent and her husband Jeff Hall of Nashville, TN; a grandson, Billy Springfield and wife Val of Desoto, MO; and a great grandson, her “Little Bit,” Yorick Donald John Hall of Nashville, TN. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Goodwin of Topeka, KS, and Paul Goodwin of Ava, MO. She is survived by a sister, Carolyn (Goodwin) Looney and her husband James of West Plains, MO; a brother, Raymond Goodwin of Rogersville, MO; two brothers-in-law, Robert Springfield and his wife Faye of Franklin, VA and Johnny Springfield and his wife Barbara of Canton, TX; one sister-in-law, Diane (Springfield) Borutta and her husband Bill of Lake Ozarks, MO, and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Virginia was the heart of her family. She always gave of herself selflessly and never failed to drop everything to help those that needed her. She dedicated her entire life to her loved ones. She was our world there are no words to express how much she will be missed. Visitation will be held from 9am-11am on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the Clary Funeral Home in Thayer, MO. Funeral services will be held immediately after with Brother Darrell Mitchell of the Clifton Church presiding. Burial will occur in the Thayer Cemetery. |
