Clarence Elbert Powell was born to Ocal and Dellie Rutledge Powell on September 3, 1936, in Myrtle, MO, and departed this life on March 13, 2012, at the Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains, MO, at the age of 75 years.

On August 14, 1970, he was united in marriage to Barbara Madden in Thayer, MO, by Reverence Charles Gower.

Survivors include: his wife, Barbara Powell of the family home; four children, Delores Wooldridge and husband Michael of Thayer, MO, Rebecca Powell and fiancé Lance Hahn of Millersville, MO, Keith Powell of the family home in Thayer, MO, and Wesley Powell and wife Megan of St. Louis, MO; 3 sisters, Grace Palmer and Goldie Davenport of Thayer, MO, and Viola Herndon and husband Jessie of Houston, MO; one brother, Gilbert Powell and wife Shirley of Thayer, MO; 7 grandchildren, Lileigh Wooldridge, Shandi McCarty, Kyra and Adriana Tharp, Emily and Sophie Powell, Alexander Powell, as well as an unborn grandbaby due in August; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Joe and Claude Powell.

He was saved, loved the Lord and attended church regularly when physically able.

Clarence Powell was in the Army, a Merchant Marine, and worked for Inland Steel in East Chicago, IL. He will be remembered as a hardworking man that made many sacrifices for his love of family.

Services will be 2pm Friday, March 16, 2012, at the Clary Funeral Home in Thayer, MO, with Rev. Darrell Mitchell officiating. Interment will be in the Norman Cemetery. Visitation will be 6pm-8pm Thursday, March 2012. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Thayer, MO.
