REV DONNIE LEON MORRIS Donnie Leon Morris, the son of the late Wilphard R Morris and Ruea C (Baker) Morris was born December 12, 1919 at Thomasville MO. He entered into eternal rest on December 2,2011 at the age of 91 years, 11 months and 20 days. On December 24, 1937 he was married at Thomasville MO to Elga Pauline Harrison. They was married for sixty-two years before she passed away January 18, 2000. Mr. Morris was a veteran of World War II, having served with the US Army in Europe. He was a carpenter and built many homes in the West Plains area with his building partner, Robert "Bob" Dotson. In the early 1960s he answered the call to become a minister. He was ordained as a Free Will Baptist minister. He pastored Free Will Baptist and General Baptist Churches in Missouri and northern Arkansas. He loved to play his guitar and harmonica. He was a charter member of the First Free Will Baptist Church. He is survived by five children: Kathryn Morris, Warrensburg MO; David Morris and wife Paula, Pataskala OH; Donna Spencer and husband Randy; John Morris and wife Freda; Anita Collins and husband James all of West Plains, MO. Fifteen grandchildren and twenty-six great grandchildren, one sister-in-law Ellen Morris, Thomasville MO and two brothers-in-law Paul Harrison and Clarence "Bud" Crabtree both of West Plains, MO. Many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, one daughter Norma Jean Morris, one great-granddaughter Allison Ann-Pauline Mattes, his parents, his brothers: Gene, Emons and Chester and his sister Bonnie. Services will be 10:00am Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at the 1st Freewill Baptist Church, West Plains, MO, burial in the Huddleston Cemetery. |
