Dorothy Iona Grissum was born July 7, 1921 in Wesco Mo, in Crawford county. She departed this life on May 24, 2011 at home in Alton. She was the fourth of five children born to John and Olive Jackson. During her teenage years, the family moved from rural Crawford county to St Louis. Dorothy lived in St Louis for a while, then subsequently in Montana, Seattle and the Los Angeles area of California. It was there that she met Harold Grissum. They married in 1991. In 1993 she and Harold moved to West Plains, and in 1998 they moved to Alton.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Olive Jackson, her son Eugene Roth, sisters Pearl Kline and Ina Chronister, and brothers Earl and Kenneth Jackson. She is survived by her beloved husband Harold Grissum, stepson Larry Grissum and wife Barbara of Atlanta; step grandchildren Christie Picklesimer and husband Michael, Page Grissum, Bernadette Isabela and husband Tony, and Tiffanie Grissum, all of the Atlanta area; niece Carolyn Belt of Alton, nephews Robert Chronister and wife Sue of Alton and Vernon Chronister and wife Joyce of West Plains; one granddaughter and numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 2pm Thursday, May 26, 2011, at the Clary Funeral Home in Alton, MO, with burial following in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Alton, MO.
