Roy Lee England, age 61 entered into eternal rest on December 27, 1010 at his home in Mammoth Spring, AR. Roy was born the son of Novis and Freda Armstead-England on October 15, 1949 in Thayer, MO.

Roy graduated from Mammoth Spring High school in 1967 at which time he began a career of service to his country by enlisting in the United States Army. Upon completion of Basic Training/AIT he was rushed into service during the Vietnam Conflict. After returning home from Vietnam, he married Patricia Nanette Strack on December 22, 1972. To this union they were blessed with 3 children, Kista Josh, and Cayce. Roy was again called to serve his country in 1990 during Operation Desert Shield/Storm and again in 2003 for Operation Enduring Freedom. He was a member of the 224th Maintenance Company of Mtn. Home, AR from which he retired in 2007, at the rank of SGT 1st Class, after over 25 years of service to his country. In the fall of 2010, Roy also retired his position as Maintenance Supervisor at Mammoth Spring State Park.

In his relentless pursuit of knowledge, Roy obtained his Associates of Arts in General Studies degree from Missouri State University. Being an avid outdoorsman and marksman, he enjoyed flint knapping, restoring antique firearms, hand loading ammunition, archeology and history. Roy left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. He was the epitome of a humble, selfless man who would help anyone in need. He also had a wealth of knowledge that he was willing to share with an attentive ear, but always open to new information.

Survivors include his wife Nanette of the home, his mother Freda Armstead-England of Thayer, MO, daughter Kista Barnard and husband Joseph of Thayer, MO, son Josh England and wife Rhiannon of Mtn. Grove, MO, Sister Charlis Weiss of Pine Hill, NY, brothers James England of Mammoth Spring, AR, and Richard England of Greensboro, NC, Grandchildren Dagen Jones, Haley Barnard, Zayne and Hayleigh England and numerous other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Novis England, and son Kevin Aaron Cayce England.

In his 61 years on this earth, Roy touched and affected many lives. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Memorial Services/Celebration of life will be 6pm-8pm Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Mammoth Spring Senior Center, 950 Archer Avenue Mammoth Spring, AR. Military honors at a later date. Arrangements under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Mammoth Spring, AR.
