Sybil Lee (Winston) Smith, age 89 of Mammoth Spring, AR, was born December 18,1920, in Sheridan, AR, and passed away October 25, 2010, in Jonesboro, AR.

Survivors include: one sister-in-law, Corinne Winston of Sheridan, AR; three nephews, Winston Winston, Wayne Winston and Freddy Winston, all of Sheridan, AR; one niece, Neta Winston of Fayetteville, AR; and numerous other relatives, friends and her church family. She is also survived by several family members of her late husband, Floyd Smith.

Preceding her in death were: her parents, Arthur Lee “Doc” Winston and Verna Bradley Winston; her husband, Floyd Smith; one sister, Catherine Winston Dwyer; and one brother, Roy Edward Winston.

Sybil was a beloved, long time resident of Mammoth Spring. She was an avid gardener and a member of The Garden Club. When you did not find her working her own flowers and vegetable garden at her home, you might find her at the Mammoth Spring State Park where she helped to prepare and plant the herb garden. She took great pride in keeping it weeded and clean.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mammoth Spring for over 30 years. She was a faithful worker doing anything that needed to be done, whether working on a committee, or in the kitchen for social events.

Sybil was well known throughout the city as a long time worker with the Election Board serving as a Judge at the precinct in Mammoth Spring. She will be greatly missed by the local voters next Tuesday on election day. She will also be deeply missed by her family, neighbors, and especially by her church family, along with the rest of the community.

Services will be 1:00pm Friday, October 29, 2010 at the Clary Funeral Home, in Thayer, MO, with Bro. J.R. McElhannon officiating. Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery, in Mammoth Spring, AR. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Thayer, MO.
