Gary Wayne Hensley, age 58 of Alton, MO, was born December 18, 1950, in Thayer, MO, and passed away November 4, 2009, at the Ozarks Medical Center, West Plains, MO.

Survivors include: his wife, Teralyn, two daughters, Kimberly Hensley, Robin Holman and husband Billy, two grandsons, Tanner and Tyson Holman, his mother, Notra Hensley, all of Alton, MO; three brothers, Donald Hensley and wife Fairy of West Plains, MO, Howard Hensley and wife Jean Ann of Rogersville, MO, Russell Hensley and wife Kathryn of Warren, AR; one sister, Bonnie Williams and husband Charles of Rover, MO; one sister-in-law, Kay Hensley of Koshkonong, MO; charlene Williams of Alton, MO, one brother-in-law, Roy Herzog of Alton, MO; and numerous other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were: his father, Ben Hensley; one brother, Denzil Hensley; one sister-in-law, Barbara Herzog; his father and mother-in-law, Godfred and Dorothea Herzog.

Gary served as Oregon County Clerk since 1995, prior to that he served as Oregon County Assessor. He was President of the Oregon County Sheltered Workshop board, coached local baseball teams, was a member of the Fox Trotter Association (MFTHBA) and local saddle club and was an auctioneer for 30 years. Gary was a lifelong dedicated Christian, active in the Bailey Freewill Baptist Church, and always willing to lend a hand to any need in the community.

Services will be 11am Saturday, November 7, 2009, at the Alton High School with Bro. Darrell Strain and Bro. Russell Hensley officiating, with visitation 6pm-8pm Friday at the Clary Funeral Home, Alton, MO. Burial will be in the Cotton Creek Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Oregon County Sheltered Workshop.
