Denton Carl Alford, age 83 of Thayer, MO was born August 13, 1925 in Pocahontas, AR and passes away July 21, 2009 at his home. He was united in marriage to Iris Beatty on July 2, 1949, who survives. Other survivors include; one daughter, Deborah Knox and husband Tom of Mtn. Home, AR, two sons, Greg Alford and wife Ginny of Thayer, MO, Ken Alford and wife Natalie of Springfield, MO, six grandchildren, Sarah and Cortland Knox, Jessica Carlisle, Jacob, Jordan and Kristopher Alford, two great-grandchildren, Kadin and Peyton Carlisle, one brother, Ralph Alford of Honolulu, HI, and numerous other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Charles Alford and Stella Williams Alford, four sisters, Faye Maynard, Goldie Roy, Sylvia Byrd and Delphia Brewer. Denton attended the Couch school before leaving to join the United States Navy during World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He was a longtime business owner in the Thayer area, including the Stateline and Korner Plaza restaurants. Graveside services will be 1:00pm Friday, July 24, 2009 at the Thayer Cemetery with Bro. David Honeycutt officiating. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00pm Thursday at the Clary Funeral Home, Thayer, MO. |
