Clayton Omar "Corky" Gaines, age 74 of Thayer, MO, was born June 29, 1934, in Limon, CO, and passed away April 5, 2009, at the Shady Oaks Healthcare Center in Thayer, MO. Survivors include: his wife, Roberta (Hightower) Gaines, of the home; 1 son, David Gaines, of the home; 1 "daughter", Rebecca Shaffer and husband Carl of Meeker, OK; 2 "granddaughters", Cynthia and Ladonna Shaffer of Meeker, OK; 3 sisters, Martha East of Pahrump, NV, Lois Adkins & husband Clifford of Riverton, IA, and Myrtle Sorrell & husband Thomas of Guthrie, OK; 3 brothers, Herbert Gaines and wife Eva Belle of Mammoth Spring, AR, Ray Gaines of Provo, UT, and Victor Gaines & wife Julia of Scranton, KS; special brothers-in-law, Paul Sorrell of Verona, MO, and Sam Sorrell of Bartlett, KS; Leon Sorrell of Pea Ridge, AR, several nieces & nephews; and numerous other friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by: his first wife, Eva Lou (Sorrell) Gaines; his parents, Herbert Otto and Anna Marie (Stroup) Gaines; 1 daughter, Ruth Ann Gaines; a special niece, Anna Mae Sorrell, special father-in-law, Audie Sorrell, special brothers-in-law, Junior Sorrell and Benny Sorrell; 2 sisters, Leota DuBois and Mae Daily; 3 brothers, Charles Gaines, Kenneth Gaines, and Gordon Gaines. Services will be 10am Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at the Clary Funeral Home in Thayer, MO, with Bro. Curtis Williams and Bro. Carl Shaffer officiating. Interment will be in the Myrtle Church of God Cemetery. Family night will be 6pm-8pm Tuesday, April 7, 2009, in the Clary Chapel in Thayer, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Thayer, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be left at the funeral home. |
