Maxine Odle, 89 of Mountain Grove died Monday, April 14, 2008, at Kabul Nursing Home, Cabool, Missouri. She was born July 20, 1918 in Mountain Grove, Missouri to Max and Lee Williams. On March 18, 1936 in the Christian Church of Mountain Grove she married Raymond "Andy" Odle who preceded her in death on February 23, 1974. Maxine was a life long resident of Mountain Grove. In earlier years she was employed at Carp's Department Store, Richard's Dry Goods, and also worked with her husband, Andy, as Deputy City Collector in the late 60s and early 70s. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Mountain Grove. Maxine was also a member of Eastern Star, was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, and Town Country Club. She enjoyed family, friends, cooking, and shopping. Maxine was a true "Maxine", she never met a stranger, would voice her opinion on any subject, and always left love and laughter in her path. Survivors include one sister, Kathleen "Tinky" Grove of Yuma, Arizona, one son, Terry Odle of Springfield, Missouri, one son-in-law, Gene Clary of Mountain Grove, Granddaughters Christy Wilson-Smith, and her husband, Charlie, of St. Peters, Cindy Banner and her husband, John, of Sedalia, Jeana Cunningham, and her husband, Jimmy, of Springfield, Angela Heather, and her husband Mark, of Pleasant Hill, one grandson, Derek Hopper and his wife, Michelle of Oak Grove, and 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Her parents Max and Lee Williams, husband, Andy Odle, sisters, Mary Francis Williams and Anita Young, two daughters, Sharon Lee Clary and Ann Dee Hopper preceded her in death. Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the Trinity United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Montgomery officiating, with interment in the Hillcrest Cemetery, under the direction of Clary Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the Trinity United Methodist Church Thursday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Pallbearers will be Derek Hopper, Matt Heather, Andy Gathright, Nick Banner, Patrick Wilson, and James Cunningham. Honorary pallbearers will be Amber Heather, Lindsey Hopper, Morgan Hopper, Jessica Banner, Brandon Smith, Jessica Smith, Corey Smith, and Danelle Cunningham. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Trinity Methodist Church, Mountain Grove. |
