James Chelsie Holmes (1942-2025) It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear father, James Chelsie Holmes, on September 27, 2025, at the age of 83, surrounded by love - his wife and daughter by his side, and son present virtually from Japan. James was born on September 2, 1942, in Thayer, Missouri to Sherman and Lillian Holmes. He spent much of his life in Japan, having served the U.S. Navy. James is survived by his wife of 53 years, Fumie and his children Marigold and Chelsie. He will be remembered as a kind, humorous, and loving father, husband, and friend, who enjoyed seeing the world, fishing, cooking, playing cards, and chatting with family and friends, new and old, over a cup of coffee. James will be laid to rest at Shiloh Cemetery in Alton, Missouri. On behalf of our father, we would like to extend our sincere appreciation to family and friends who were dear to him.
