Anyone that was familiar with Danny knows that the last place you would expect him to spend any length of time was in the hospital. But as was normal for Danny, he put his own wishes aside and did what he felt he had to do to spend every last moment he could with his friends and family. Danny was a true patriarch and always took care of his wife and his boys with a sense of responsibility that came natural to him, borne out of his deep love and devotion to his family. To know Danny was to be welcomed by him. He leaves behind a town of friends who knew that they could show up anytime without an invitation or even a knock and be greeted by Danny’s warm smile. It was often said that if he teased you it meant he liked you, and he was always quick with a joke. Danny worked in various trades throughout his life, in saw mills, as a roofer, and hauling hay. His jobs took him to many locations throughout the state, but his true home and community was in Alton. He enjoyed squirrel, rabbit, deer, and racoon hunting throughout his life and passed those traditions on to his sons and grandchildren. He spent many nights coon hunting walking through the woods of Oregon county. On nice days you could find him camping and trail riding by horseback or buggy. He spent his retirement years fully taking advantage of the beautiful area he treated as his own backyard. During the summer months he could often be found somewhere along the Eleven Point river, either cuttin’ up on the bank with friends or running his boat up and down the river. Services will be held in the spring, and will be announced at a later date. Donations are not needed at this time thanks to the generosity of this wonderful community that came together in Danny’s time of need. He was truly honored by the outpouring of support. |
