Sue Friend, age 85 of Alton, MO was born July 11, Evelyn Sue Friend was born on July 11, 1938, in Oregon County, MO, the daughter of Mack and Lola Hollis Johnson. She passed away on June 5, 2024, at West Plains, MO. She attended school at Alton where she was an honor student, graduating with the class of 1955. On April 2, 1955, she was married to Dwayne Friend at Mountain Grove, MO. She became a minister's wife and was always an avid supporter of her husband's ministry. Together they pastored churches in many places in Missouri, as well as Colorado, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee. Sue was an excellent hostess and a wonderful cook, and over the years she entertained countless people in her home with delicious meals and hospitality. She was outgoing and friendly and never met a stranger. She worked for various Christian ministries after moving to Tulsa, Oklahoma. When she returned to Missouri, she was a driver for Ready Transportation, a job she relished. Two of her favorite things were driving and talking, and she got to do both in that position. Sue is survived by four sons, Jonathan Friend, Marty Friend, and Darren Friend of Alton, MO, and Zane Friend of Joelton, Tennessee. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, as well as a brother, Darold Johnson, and a sister, Kay Johnson. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Donald Lane Friend, her parents, Mack and Lola Johnson, and a brother, Glen Johnson. Graveside services will be held 11am Friday, June 14, 2024, at the Cave Springs Cemetery with Bro. David Langston officiating.
