Karen Lanell Smith of Alton Missouri passed away peacefully at her home of Shepherd’s View Assisted Living on March 5, 2024. Karen was 72 years old. Karen was born in Abilene, Texas on June 7, 1951 to Henry F. and Doris E. Smith. Karen graduated from Cooper High School in 1969. After high school Karen enlisted in the United States Navy. After the military she worked various jobs and with the course of time Karen worked for the Texas Department of Public Safety as a Communications Officer. Karen came to Shepherd’s View due to health and to be closer to her father and brother’s family. Karen loved horses, art and watching westerns. Karen especially loved visits from her niece and nephew. Karen is preceded in death by her brother Marshall Smith, and parents Henry & Doris Smith. Karen is survived by her brother Henry, one sister, along with 3 children, and grandchildren. Grave site services will be held at Oak Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at 3:00 p.m.
