Carole Jean Howell (Hames) was born December 24, 1944, in Violet Hill, AR. Carole passed away on November 6th at her home, surrounded by her family.

She spent 35 years working at a job she loved, being the librarian at the Mammoth Spring library. She spent those years making many friends and impacting numerous lives. She has read every book in the library, some more than once. She always remembered books that her regulars read. She remembered everyone that had ever come into see her, maybe not their name but definitely the face. She read to every kindergarten class for the majority of her time at the library. Anytime anyone went to see her, they were met with the newest pictures of her grandchildren. She not only worked at the library, she was the local seamstress. She served many years at the local polling station, served on the city council, and at the local newspaper.

Carole was preceded in death by her brothers, parents, but most importantly her “Little Phil”. She is survived by her daughters, Michelle and Donell (Keven). Her grandchildren, Courtney (Seth), Jonnie (Josh), Heather, Corbin, Adam (Kelsie), Jamie, Jenna and Justin. Along with her great grandchildren Bryce, Rorie, Eli, Carson, Bella, Sarah, Sutton, Rhen, Willow and Asher.

She will be remembered by all who had met her as their very own “B”. A memorial bench is being planned to be placed in front of the library.
